RGV OldCars.com Editorials Back to the 50's

Each year, since 1973, the Minnesota Street Rod Association (MSRA) has hosted a large scale and exciting event for those who love old cars and love to remember the good ol' days. This year was no exception as they held their 30th Annual Back to the 50's weekend. The event was held June 20th-22nd this year (2003). The staff of MSRA did another superb job of organizing and assembling together some of the best street rods and collector cars from across the country and around the world. The event draws over 10,000 cars and even more people that come and participate in this fun filled weekend. The event is held at or around the area of the Minnesota State Fair Grounds in St. Paul, Minnesota.

This is certainly one of the country's largest old car events held. Some of the various events during the weekend include car cruises, car show, swap meet, auctions, retro music concerts, cruises to old drive-in movie theatres and diners, games, cruise-n-art craft fair, tours of historic places in the area, how-to workshops for restoring your car, and so much more. Another attraction of the weekend was that the MSRA club gave away a '32 Ford roadster to one fortunate winner.

This year several of our local old car enthusiasts made the trip up to the "Land of 10,000 Lakes" to enjoy and take part in this event. Everyone we talked with who went thoroughly loved their time and said there was just far too much to see and take in that weekend and they wished the event had lasted longer. They are all looking forward to head back next year for Back to the 50's.

Next year's event will be held again at the Minnesota State Fair Grounds on June 18, 19, and 20, 2004. For more information about next year's event check out MSRA's website at: www.MSRA.com
