Coastal A’s and Rods 13th Annual Fun Run -- Corpus Christi
Once again the Coastal A's and
Rods car club from Corpus Christi hosted their annual Fun Run
held at the Holiday Inn hotel off Leopard in Corpus. This
event is a great opportunity to get your car out and stretch its
legs a bit and drive it. The event is spread throughout
the weekend with activities and cruise night starting in the
evening on Friday May 27th with a cruise and hang out at local
car hot spot Snapka's Drive Inn. The night was filled with
cars cruising and a few daring souls who decided the city
streets would be the perfect setting for a burnout contest and
drag racing. Fortunately, no lives and no cars were lost
in the smoke clouds. The Saturday is gathering day for the
cars in the host hotel parking lot as well as location for some
games, swap meet items, vendors, music, and food. The
night between Saturday and Sunday brought in a massive rain and
wind storm, so for those poor cars left outdoors, they were
soaked down to their last nut and bolt, but the weather cleared
up nicely for the day on Sunday and with the exception of the
occasional water puddle to hop around, the day was beautiful and
great for the final day of this event and car show. The
car count was a little lower this year compared to last but the
weather didn't help that factor. A few locals from the
valley walked away with trophies and prizes for winning their
categories, congratulations to Oscar Vela and Eddie Ramirez as
well as any others I may have forgotten. All in all, still
a great event and we look forward to seeing you all their next
year.
